CELADOR SCOOPS MORE COMMISSIONS!

Celador Productions, the independent producer of television programmes for both the BBC and ITV, confirmed this week that the BBC has commissioned a fifth series of The Detectives and a new series of Canned Carrott.

The Detectives by Steve Knight and Mike Whitehill features Jasper Carrott and his long-standing golfing partner, Robert Powell. Despite a dip in the ratings for the fourth season (due to its absence from BBC Scotland), the BBC are keen to keep Jasper Carrott and he has publicly stated that he prefers The Detectives to other types of performance work.

Another series of Canned Carrott should begin production in March 1997. It is expected to feature 90% stand-up material shot as live with sketches inserted to strengthen the programmes. This is the format adopted by previous series which led to fillers like The Detectives becoming such big successes. Celador officials would not reveal, however, if Wiggy would be making a return to the series that made him a star.
