Just In Time For Christmas...
Saturday 3rd December 2005, 12:00 - 7:00 pm
Amblecote Room, Stourbridge Town Hall, Stourbridge, West Midlands, UK
Free Admission
What is your idea of a perfect Christmas gift?
The Magpie badge worn by presenter Jenny Hanley in the 1970s?
An original TV company ident board?
A rare promotional leaflet for Carry On Don't Lose Your Head?
These, and many more rare items, were auctioned by Kaleidoscope to raise money for the Lifeboat Appeal at Stourbridge Town Hall on Saturday 3rd December 2005.
People could bid for fantastic pieces of film and TV memorabilia in a fabulous charity auction compered by Jenny Hanley, the ex-Magpie presenter who made her name as a James Bond girl.
Jenny and our other guest, Kaleidoscope favourite Tony Currie, later provided some Christmas entertainment for the audience in the form of a comprehensive, fun and often hilarious look back at Jenny's career. There were also screenings of old Christmas television shows, mince pies and lots of other festive fun!
Kaleidoscope announced the winner of the 50 Years of ITV Megaquiz at the event, which proved so fiendishly difficult that only three people managed to complete it!
As we had hoped, both the event and auction proved a huge success, and helped Kaleidoscope smash all of our previous fundraising records for the RNLI. Thanks to everyone who supported us on the day, and gave so generously.

Just In Time For Christmas... was in support of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution once again and raised an incredible total of £1015.91 (a new all time record for a single event), consisting of:
Kaleidoscope Grand Charity Auction 2005 - £589.00 (beating last year's auction total)
Donation from Kaleidoscope Publishing - £72.00
RNLI collecting buckets - £221.97
RNLI refreshments stand - £52.94
Additional cash donations - £80.00
This brings Kaleidoscope's fundraising total for 2005 to £1312.64 (another new all time record) and since 1994 to £5856.62
Sue Coombes, Honorary Secretary of RNLI Stourbridge Branch, said:
"A wonderful achievement and one of which you can all be very proud - in fact, to give you an idea of what this would buy, it would be enough to kit out the entire crew of one of the RNLI's all weather lifeboats (the big £1m plus offshore ones) like the Trent class Blue Peter VII stationed at Fishguard.
We really do appreciate all you do for the lifeboat service - we know what a lot of time and effort goes into putting on your events which not only raise money for the RNLI but give a lot of pleasure and enjoyment to many, many people, ourselves included."
