13th June 2008 Rupert Marson (1994-2008) Kaleidoscope is very sad to report that event attendee Rupert Marson passed away on Sunday 8th June 2008. Rupert was the son of Kaleidoscope organiser and author Richard Marson. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Richard, Mandy and Rosy at this time. This utter and complete tragedy has shaken everyone involved with Kaleidoscope. I was with Richard and family two weeks ago, and I feel their loss totally. Rupert was an intelligent, perceptive and very gifted teenager who I will miss terribly. I feel like I have lost a member of my own family. God bless you Marsons et al. Rupert was intellectually gifted way beyond his years with an encyclopaedic knowledge of many areas. He made the most of his life, with accomplishments to his credit too numerous to list and was a thoroughly likeable chap. He seemed assured of a very bright future indeed and will be much missed by all. My thoughts are with Richard, Mandy and Rosy at this sad time. Adrian Petford Kaleidoscope I only met Rupert briefly but he came across as a very happy and intelligent young man. As others have mentioned, I met Rupert only briefly once at a post Kaleidoscope curry with his dad and he seemed like a thoroughly decent lad. My deepest condolences to all Richard's family. Mark Shuttleworth Kaleidoscope A heartbreaking and tragic end to a young and promising life. It's hard to comprehend what can drive a teenager to such desperation, particularly when quite clearly he had so much to live for. Sadly, we were unable to meet Rupert and his father at the Kaleidoscope event they attended recently. Our thoughts and heartfelt good wishes are with Richard, Mandy and Rosy at this terrible time.
