At first there was a lot of milling around by people in brown. Then I started to work it out bit by bit. They rehearsed and then filmed a scene where Xena walks out in to the water, she stops and either says something (praying perhaps?) or just stands there and then she walks back into the beach. |

This let me identify Lucy. There was also a difference between filming and rehearsing – Lucy wore her dark blue robe when she was rehearsing and took it off when she was filming. This was also useful in distinguishing Lucy from her double as the double never put on a robe, but just wore the white dress. Then they started to rehearse a new scene. |

The characters all looked like they had stepped out of a Wagner opera. There was a Germanic or Viking feel to the day. The people in brown seemed to be the good guys who were allied to Xena and Gabrielle, these seemed to be Goths or Vikings and they had a leader. The main adversary seemed to be a woman (who I have called Brunhilde as a typical Wagnerian heroine) and her female followers – Rhine Maidens. Very much like Athena and her roadrunners, except these were on horseback. The scene was that Brunhilde and her Rhine Maidens ride up on their horses, Brunhilde gets off and confronts Xena. After some dialogue, they have a fight. When they rehearsed this Lucy's double rehearsed it with Brunhilde (in her grey and red robe) and then they taught it to Lucy. |
